Most traveling caches required exceptions to not trigger souvenirs, allow multiple found logs, and allow the ability to update coordinates beyond .1 miles (161 m). Net nu grondpraat allerlei vernie(uw/l)ingen aan het uitrollen is worden de HH's gearchiveerd. Dan geef ik toch eerder de schuld aan de incompetente programmeurs, dan aan de incompetente geocachers. Ik heb niet het idee dat grondpraat zich om die laatsten erg druk maakt. Tc

Traveling caches seemed like a fun idea when they were introduced by the community back in 2001. But they soon became problematic and a decision was made many years ago to stop accepting them for publication. As the number of traveling caches has declined through natural attrition, the problems with them as a group happen more often and include: · The cache owner has no control over the physical caches. They cannot control where they travel, verify whether they are missing, or visit them to perform maintenance. · There is no review of the locations where they are re-hidden, so nothing can prevent them from being placed in a location that is illegal or restricted. · Many of them have become “pocket caches” traveling from event to event to be logged by the attendees and are no longer re-hidden outside as they were intended to travel. Moving forward, the new logging system on Geocaching.com will no longer allow cache owners to update the coordinates for traveling caches farther than 528 ft/161m. It is rare for traveling caches to move less than 528 ft/161 m, so the coordinates can no longer be properly updated. For these reasons we made the decision to archive and lock the remaining traveling caches. But we have some exciting news! We have created a way to respect the history of traveling caches and allow them to live on in a different way. Traveling caches always had one significant thing missing - an icon to set them apart. They were never a cache type of their own and never had any significant impact on finder’s stats. The retirement option for them is to make them a unique trackable type, with their own unique icon. The icon will pay tribute to their former identity as a traveling cache. Only traveling caches that are currently active will be eligible for this opportunity. This way they can travel as before, and continue to be logged as a trackable. Each person that moves or discovers them after they become trackables will get the unique icon for their profile. Here is an example of a former traveling cache that was converted to a trackable and has been traveling ever since: https://coord.info/TB2HR9Z The distance traveled will be recorded for its travels, which was never calculated for traveling caches. If your traveler is a virtual cache, you can have a code, too! Choose an object you’d like to release in memory of your virtual traveling cache, and send it out traveling with your new code. Everyone who moves or discovers it will get the icon as well. Please respond to this email and let us know if you would like to have one of this unique series of trackable codes to honor the legacy of your traveling cache and allow it to continue traveling and being logged. Dat zou een prachtig gebaar zijn als alle verzamelaars van hitch hikers een TB zouden krijgen Maar....TB of geen TB: wij hebben liever dat de HH's blijven. Groetjes van de Kikkermeiden
