Gast Havrix Geplaatst 15 september 2004 Geplaatst 15 september 2004 Hi there! I'm planing to spend a weekend in Katwijk aan Zee around 15th of october! ... Here in Germany some cachers take along their PMR-radio in order to have the opportunity to communicate with other cachers! Normally our radio-sets use channel 2 without any CTCSS! Are their any cachers using this system too in the Netherlands?? Greeting from Bochum / Germany Havrix PS: Which cache is a "must-have" in Katwijk and the area around it??

Sorry Never heard of PMR-radio , but in Katwijk, I did the cache Hold Your Horses, it is a very nice one and a very special location. Have a nice weekeind
Gast Havrix Geplaatst 15 september 2004 Geplaatst 15 september 2004 PMR (private mobile radio) is a collecting of 8 public radio channels! It's different from CB radio (Citizen band), beacuse is has fixed frequencies! Quite easy to adjust your radio to one certain channel in order to coordinate radio communication! Thanks a lot for this Cache-Recommendation!
Quaerens Geplaatst 15 september 2004 Geplaatst 15 september 2004 Last monday i did the webcam- cache Wurftcam. It is located at the boulevard of Katwijk. It was my first webcam cache, and is much fun! For other caches you can have a look on this map: map Good luck Greets Quaerens
elsinga Geplaatst 16 september 2004 Geplaatst 16 september 2004 PMR isn't used for caching a lot here in Holland. Maybe between cache members, but not for locating other cachers.
deBruineBeren Geplaatst 16 september 2004 Geplaatst 16 september 2004 Some where on the Internet there is written that the geocaching PMR channel is number 2. Some how the channel used on Dutch Events is number 3. So I expect the most Dutch PMR’s are set to channel number 3. Without any channel code.
Gast Havrix Geplaatst 16 september 2004 Geplaatst 16 september 2004 Hey, that's cool .... then I'll take my PMRs with me to Katwijk .... maybe I'll meet some cachers there
Wij Drie Geplaatst 16 september 2004 Geplaatst 16 september 2004 Hey, that's cool .... then I'll take my PMRs with me to Katwijk .... maybe I'll meet some cachers there I think your best chance meeting other cachers in doing a new ('maagdelijke') cache. A one-day-old cache attracts a lot of teams in the western part of the Netherlands. There're just not that many PMR here. tot cache, team Wij Drie
